The mission of the Public Health program at Salisbury University is to prepare students to become effective public health professionals who promote and sustain health and wellbeing for individuals, communities, and populations with an emphasis on serving those living, working, and playing in rural areas at both our main campus on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and at our satellite campus in Hagerstown, Maryland. Students and faculty work together in classroom, research, and service capacities to improve health equity, decrease health disparities, and address social determinants of health on campus and in the greater rural communities we serve. The program has a dedicated team of faculty and community partners who continuously meet and discuss the intersection of academic and practical preparation of public health professionals. Students can also study abroad – short-term during our winter global experience courses, or long-term during their required semester-long internship course – to learn more about global health and appreciate that in public health the world is your patient.
