University of Miami

The University of Miami’s graduate programs in epidemiology and public health provide an intensive research-oriented environment for innovative public health training. The majority of our faculty members serve as principal investigators on NIH awards, performing research to discover unique and shared pathways that lead to health promotion and disease prevention and translating their findings into interventions and educational experiences for individuals, communities and populations.

The program is further enhanced by its location at the UM Miller School of Medicine, providing rich opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in research, education and service.

Our masters (MPH, MSPH, MS), doctoral, and joint-degree programs offer small classes with a high level of student/faculty interaction. Our innovative four-year MD/MPH program allows students to complete both degrees within a fully coordinated program of coursework and clinical activity. Other joint programs (JD/MPH, MPA/MPH, MD/PhD) take advantage of the many opportunities for interdisciplinary education throughout the UM campus.

An active Public Health Student Association provides opportunities for students to get involved with other students, faculty, and South Florida’s community organizations working together to make a difference and to advance the profession of public health. Through mostly hard work, and a little fun, the students continue to reach out, practicing good public health strategies, providing needed services, raising money to support their activities and inspiring hope within the local community.
